PTE rules at MIT
MIT says English test results must be valid before the date your course starts, and it assesses every applicant individually. The page does not give a fixed validity period, and does not mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core.

If your PTE falls short
Where you do not meet the English requirement, MIT will consider packaging your course with its English and Academic Preparation (EAP) program, run through the MIT English Language Centre as ELICOS. Completing the right EAP level at MIT or another NEAS-accredited ELICOS provider can give direct entry.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your MIT programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
