Test rules and how to send PTE to Montclair
The graduate page says unofficial score reports are not accepted: have official scores sent directly from the testing service to Montclair State University. It gives a TOEFL school code but no Pearson code, and neither page states a validity period or mentions PTE Academic Online.
For comparison, the graduate page asks IELTS 6.5 against PTE 53, and the first-year page asks IELTS 6.0 against PTE 48.

If your PTE score falls short
Neither page describes a conditional route for a low PTE score. The graduate page waives the test for citizens of listed countries and for one academic year of full-time study at a US college, not counting ESL, and says medium of instruction in English alone is not sufficient.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Montclair State programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
