What PTE score do you need for NTNU?

NTNU accepts "the academic version" of PTE, at a test centre or as PTE Academic Online. Scores from TOEFL, IELTS and Pearson are valid for two years. You upload your result on Søknadsweb by the application deadline; if that is 1 December, your English proof is due by 1 December. The department code 9652 is for TOEFL results from ETS, not PTE.

On the master's page IELTS Academic needs 6.5 in each part, and the page notes that an IELTS 6.0 is not sufficient. Because the PTE route sets only an overall 62, it can suit applicants with one weaker skill.

Some programmes, such as Erasmus Mundus and joint Nordic master's programmes, have their own requirements on their programme websites.

Pearson has discontinued PTE Academic Online for new bookings, so plan on a test-centre PTE Academic sitting even where this page still lists the online version. See can you take PTE at home.

You do not need a test with a passing English grade from Norwegian or Nordic upper secondary school, IB English HL at 4 or more, 60 ECTS taught in English in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the USA, or a university degree majoring in English. NTNU says only the listed tests and certificates are accepted.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your NTNU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
