AIP language minimum by job offer, in PTE Core scores
From IRCC's AIP language testing page, dated 28 May 2026. It lists PTE Core, CELPIP-General and IELTS General Training as the accepted English tests.
| Level | Reading | Writing | Listening | Speaking |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CLB 5 (TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3) | 42-50 | 51-59 | 39-49 | 51-58 |
| CLB 4 (TEER 4) | 33-41 | 41-50 | 28-38 | 42-50 |
Rules on the test itself
IRCC says you must take the PTE Core test specifically, and the results must be less than two years old when you apply (AIP language page). Pearson counts the two years from the test date (PTE Core FAQ).
The minimum applies to each of the four skills. One skill below the level for your TEER means you do not meet it, whatever the other three scores are.

Same test, different bar from Express Entry
AIP's CLB 5 for TEER 0 to 3 is lower than the CLB 7 that Federal Skilled Worker asks for (who can apply). If you might use both routes, plan for the higher one. The IELTS General equivalents are in our IELTS for the Atlantic Immigration Program guide.
IRCC changes programme rules and score tables from time to time. Check the linked canada.ca page before you book a test or apply. This guide is general information, not immigration advice.
