Where can I take PTE in South Africa?

Johannesburg and Cape Town have two centres each and usually the most slots. Bloemfontein, East London and Polokwane have no PTE centre, so candidates there choose the nearest of the five cities. Rescheduling is free while more than 14 days remain, so booking early costs nothing if plans change.

Pick the test first: PTE Academic for study and Australian or New Zealand migration, PTE Academic UKVI for UK visas, PTE Home for UK family routes and PTE Core for Canada. One warning for nurses: the NMC accepts only IELTS Academic and OET, so PTE cannot be used for UK nursing registration, even though PTE Academic UKVI works for UK visas. Compare the options in OET vs PTE for nurses.

To book, create a myPTE account, choose the test, pick a centre and a slot at least 24 hours ahead, and pay. Pearson accepts American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa, and a voucher or promo code is entered at the payment step (Pearson booking guide). Your account name must match your passport exactly; it can be corrected up to 3 days before the test, never on test day, and a mismatch means no test and no refund.
