What IELTS score do you need for Seoul National University?

Bachelor's applicants can instead submit standardised test results showing Korean or English proficiency, or official documents or a school profile showing that the entire high school curriculum was taught in Korean or English.

Graduate applicants can submit official documents showing the entire bachelor's or master's curriculum was taught in Korean or English; SNU sets no format for them. SNU does not name India or any other country, so an English-taught Indian degree needs that documentation.

Scores must come from tests taken on or after 9 July 2024. SNU's TOEFL and IELTS institution code is 7972.

Some graduate programmes require TOPIK instead: level 6 for Business Administration and the Interdisciplinary Program in Art Management, and level 5 for Visual Communication Design, Industrial Design and Design majors.

Admitted undergraduates may have to sit SNU's Korean Proficiency Test, and the result can restrict course choices. SNU tells you to ask the department about English-taught courses before you apply, through its undergraduate application page.

SNU's English pages we read do not set a separate English score for the student visa or permit. Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your SNU programme page and in your admission decision, so check it there before you book a test.
