SCU TOEFL minimums
From the Overseas Students Office application requirements for undergraduates, master's degrees and doctor's degrees. The pages say "TOEFL certificate" without naming the test format.
| Level or programme | TOEFL minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| English-taught bachelor's | 80 or above | Native speakers exempt |
| English-taught master's | 80 or above | English-taught degree certificate accepted instead |
| English-taught doctoral | 80 or above | English-taught degree certificate accepted instead |
Test rules at SCU
The three pages give one overall figure and no section minimums, validity period, Home Edition or MyBest rules, or institution code. They also accept other certificates that show an equivalent level of English.
TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. The page above gives only 0 to 120 figures, so that is what this guide reports.
On the same pages, the IELTS alternative is 6.0 or above.

If your TOEFL score falls short
Applicants who are not native speakers but earned their highest degree through a programme taught in English can submit a certificate saying so instead of an IELTS or TOEFL certificate. No conditional or pathway entry is described.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your SCU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
