What Duolingo score do you need for SMU?

The undergraduate table gives the subscore requirement as a range, 105 to 125, without saying which level applies to whom, so ask your SMU admission counsellor which applies to you. Some applicants may have the requirement waived.

SMU's graduate guide says Lyle applicants requesting a student visa must submit TOEFL or IELTS, while the Lyle apply page lists Duolingo 110. Confirm with Lyle before relying on Duolingo for a visa application. The guide adds that conditional admission needs a TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or Duolingo score.

On the same pages, undergraduate IELTS is 6.5 with 6.5 in each section beside DET 115, and Lyle lists IELTS 6.5 beside DET 110.

Lyle may offer conditional admission to international students who meet academic standards but not the English requirement; they must complete the Intensive English Program before taking Lyle graduate courses. Applicants with no English test score are not considered for conditional admission. The Pre-Master Program offers intensive Academic English alongside Lyle courses.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your SMU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
