What IELTS score do you need for Sunway University?

Sunway's 2026 Engineering and Computing prospectus exempts students from countries that use English as the official language, and students with academic qualifications from institutions that use English as a full medium of instruction. Bachelor's pages also accept a satisfactory ESL/English result in an English-medium pre-university programme.

The PhD in Sustainable Development accepts English as the medium of instruction at undergraduate and master's level instead of a test. Sunway's how-to-apply page asks for IELTS, TOEFL or similar only for non-English medium education systems or qualifications.

Bachelor's pages accept a pass at Level 4 with at least 65% in Sunway's Intensive English Programme. For postgraduate study, the Jeffrey Sachs Center page says Sunway offers English proficiency courses, normally after an English assessment, if you do not meet the requirement.

Malaysian students entering with a non-English-medium qualification must hold MUET or an international English qualification to register, as required by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency. Your application checklist lists the documents. Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Sunway programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
