What TOEFL score do you need for Syracuse University?

Scores must reach Syracuse directly from ETS under code 2823 (Whitman adds department code 02 if required). Syracuse accepts the TOEFL and TOEFL At Home, but not TOEFL Essentials, the ITP or the TOEFL MyBest score, and only official scores count for English proficiency.

For comparison, preferred undergraduate IELTS is 6.5+ to 7.0+ by college, Whitman sets IELTS Academic at 7.0 and the 12-month engineering master's sets IELTS at 6.5.

Syracuse may grant conditional admission if you meet the academic requirements but not the English composite or subscore requirement, provided you submitted an official TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge or PTE Academic score. You then meet the condition by enrolling in the English Language Institute or sending a new qualifying score; no I-20 is issued until you do.
