What TOEFL score do you need for the University at Buffalo?

Undergraduates can self-report scores for the first review, but official scores must come from ETS to code 2925 and be less than two years old at admission. Graduate scores must be dated within two years of when International Admissions reviews the application and sent directly by the testing agency.

For comparison, UB sets IELTS Academic at 6.0 for undergraduates and IELTS at 6.5 for graduate admission.

At graduate level, in rare cases a UB department, not the applicant, may petition the Office of International Admissions for an English proficiency waiver or exception. Undergraduates can also meet the requirement through other routes listed on the page, such as SAT, ACT, IB or AP English results.
