How late can you register for the TOEFL iBT?

ETS says appointments are available up to 6 days a week (ETS FAQ). Test centres offer the TOEFL iBT more than 170 times a year, and the Home Edition runs 24 hours a day, 4 days a week (testing options). In mainland China you register through NEEA for test centres, or toefl.cn for the Home Edition.

You cannot take the test more than once in 3 days, and if you already have an appointment you cannot book another date within 3 days of it, even if you cancelled earlier scores (bulletin). If you need accommodations, they must be approved before you can book; see TOEFL accommodations.

Register with your name exactly as it appears on your ID (ETS ID requirements); see TOEFL ID requirements.

If plans change, rescheduling costs US$69 and must be done at least 4 full days before the test date (fees, bulletin). Country prices are in the TOEFL fee 2026 guide. Rules and fees change. Check the test owner's own page before you book or pay. This guide is general information, not official advice from ETS or Duolingo.
