What IELTS score do you need for TU Dublin?

Some programmes require more than the minimum, and undergraduate programmes with their own English rule, such as TU985 Journalism, must be met in full. The policy says programme-level exceptions are approved by the University Programme Board and published on the website, so your course page is the final word.

Results must be from a single sitting; you cannot combine results from different tests. In all cases the certificate must be issued within two years of the expected start of your course. A position on IELTS One Skill Retake and on IELTS Online is not stated by TU Dublin.

Postgraduate applicants may have other evidence, such as a degree taken through English or in an English-speaking country, accepted at the university's discretion. Undergraduates who took school-leaving exams through English may also meet the requirement.

TU Dublin runs an eight-week International Bridging Programme for undergraduate and for postgraduate students who meet the academic entry rules but not the English requirement; the policy says you must be within 0.5 of an IELTS band of the threshold to join. The International Foundation Programme needs IELTS 5.0 with 5.0 in each component, and the Extended Foundation Year 4.5 with 4.5 in each component.

The study visa is a separate check: the Irish Immigration Service sets a visa minimum of IELTS Academic 5.0 (PTE Academic 30) for courses other than second-level, foundation or English language courses, and says your college's own minimum may be different.
