What TOEFL score do you need for UC Davis?

The graduate page accepts both the in-person and at-home TOEFL iBT, says scores expire after two years, and states that MyBest scores are not accepted: only the highest composite from a single sitting counts. Scores must come electronically from ETS to institution code 4834, with no department code. The UC undergraduate page also accepts the iBT Home Edition and also rejects MyBest.

Graduate applicants offered work as a Teaching Assistant or Reader may be required to take an additional language exam at UC Davis or enrol in extra English coursework.

For comparison, the graduate page sets IELTS at 7.0, and the UC undergraduate page sets IELTS at 6.5.

Graduate applicants are exempt only with a degree from a regionally accredited US institution taught solely in English, or from a foreign institution listed in the IAU World Higher Education Database with English as the sole language of instruction. Neither page describes a conditional or pathway admission route.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UC Davis programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
