University English requirements

What Duolingo score do you need for the University of Central Florida?

The University of Central Florida asks for a Duolingo English Test score of 120 for undergraduate admission and the same 120 for the College of Graduate Studies. Graduate scores are valid for two years from the test date and must be sent electronically by Duolingo. Some graduate programmes ask for more, so check your programme's own requirements too.

Validity, sending and the IELTS comparison

The graduate page says TOEFL, IELTS and Duolingo scores are valid for two years from the original test date, that scores must come directly from the testing agency, and that photocopies and expired scores are not accepted. It advises taking the test before you submit your application. Scores take several weeks to arrive; if one is not showing after at least two weeks, send the College of Graduate Studies an unofficial copy so it can be traced. Neither page sets Duolingo subscores. Neither page sets an English rule for teaching assistants.

For comparison, the same pages set IELTS at 6.5 for both undergraduate and graduate admission.

If your Duolingo score falls short

For undergraduates, the FAQ lists other ways to meet the requirement, including UCF Global's English Programs (IEP and OEP) at level 8 or higher with a grade of B or better, set composition courses, or an onsite assessment by UCF Global faculty. The graduate page lists no conditional route.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UCF programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
