UIUC's Duolingo rules

Undergraduate scores must be from tests taken within two years of your intended entry term. Send Duolingo results electronically to "University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign Undergraduate Admissions". Transfer applicants are told to report their highest overall score and highest subscores, regardless of test date.

Graduate scores must come directly from the testing agency and be dated within two years of the start of your admission term. Send them to "University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign Graduate Admissions". The Graduate College says Duolingo cannot satisfy the teaching assistant requirement, so students admitted with a DET score who plan to hold a TA post must take TOEFL or IELTS later or sit the English Proficiency Interview (EPI) on arrival.

For comparison, the undergraduate policy asks for IELTS 7.5 with all subscores 6.5 or higher, and the Graduate College sets IELTS Academic at 6.5 for limited status and 7.5 for full status.

If your Duolingo score is below UIUC's level

Graduate applicants who score below the full status minimum must take the English Placement Test before enrolling, and based on the result are generally required to take non-credit English as a Second Language courses. Individual programmes may ask for higher scores or more evidence of spoken English. Undergraduates can meet the requirement in other ways, such as qualifying schooling in an approved English-speaking country or two years of full-time study at an accredited US or approved-country college.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Illinois programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
