What IELTS score do you need for University College of the North?

UCN's English language proficiency exemption list names countries whose applicants may be exempt. It includes Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Singapore, the UK, Ireland, the US, Australia and New Zealand, along with several European countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are not on it.

PTE Academic, Duolingo and CAEL do not appear on the international page, so applicants from those countries should plan on IELTS or TOEFL unless admissions confirm another test in writing.

UCN notes that some programs may require higher English scores than the general minimum, so compare your program page before booking. The exemption list is dated May 2022, so confirm your country is still on it when you apply.

Requirements vary by program and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UCN program page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
