What IELTS score do you need for the University of Bristol?

Each profile lists two routes. The SELT route covers IELTS Academic for UKVI and PTE Academic UKVI at authorised centres. The proficiency route covers IELTS Academic at a test centre or online, and PTE Academic at a test centre. On both routes, results that include One Skill Retake are accepted, provided all scores come from one Test Report Form. PTE online counted for 2023 entry only.

TOEFL iBT and TOEFL at Home are accepted. For example, Profile A needs 103 (R 24, L 22, S 25, W 24) on the old scale or 5.5 with 5 in each skill on the new one. Profile E needs 88 (R 20, L 19, S 22, W 22) or 4.5 with 4.5 in each skill. Duolingo is not listed.

Tests must be taken no more than two years before your programme starts. For September undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses, the test date must be no earlier than 1 September two years before entry. Component scores must all come from one sitting.

You do not need the required level when you apply. If you are short, Bristol sets a target score in your offer, and its pre-sessional language course is one way to reach it.
