Other ways to meet the requirement
The test is needed only by international students who do not take the ACT, SAT or IGCSE. GTEC is also listed as accepted, and other English exams are accepted only with pre-approval from the Director of International Students.
Students from a list of countries on the page do not need an ESL test score but should still submit an SAT or ACT score. Current or previous study at an American institution may also be considered.

Conditional admission and placement
Applicants who have not met the minimum may be considered for conditional admission with additional documentation. Students whose scores fall in the lower quartile of accepted scores take an English diagnostic exam with a writing sample on arrival, and some are placed in an ESL course.
