Test rules and the IELTS comparison
Each page says IELTS (Academic), TOEFL iBT and PTE (Academic) results must be less than two years old, and that IELTS Academic Online, TOEFL iBT Home Edition and PTE Academic Online are not accepted. Tests must be taken at a centre in your country of residence. PTE Core and a Pearson institution code are not mentioned.
On the same pages, PTE 65 sits beside IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in each element), PTE 71 beside IELTS 6.5 (6.0) and PTE 76 beside IELTS 7.0 (6.0). IELTS One Skill Retake is accepted; the pages make no matching provision for PTE.

If you fall short
The foundation page offers a lower route: PTE 59 with no element below 53, provided you pass the in-sessional English module. International applicants who meet UNM's requirements may also need extra documents or an approved English test for Malaysia's Ministry of Higher Education.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your University of Nottingham Malaysia programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
