Consistency across subsections is also required. Only the speaking, writing, reading and listening subsections are checked against the 115 minimum; the integrated subscores (conversation, literacy, comprehension, production) are not reviewed. The other programmes with higher requirements are Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Management Information Technology, Political Science and Public Administration.

Test scores expire after two years, and scores more than two years old by the start of your entry term are not accepted. OU accepts electronic DET score reports sent directly from Duolingo to Graduate Admissions, and admission decisions cannot be finalised until official scores arrive. The page adds that English proficiency for admission does not replace the English certification needed by some international instructors and graduate teaching assistants.

On the same pages, graduate IELTS is 6.5 with 6.0 sub-scores and undergraduate IELTS is 6.5, so the graduate DET bar of 130 sits well above the undergraduate 100.

If your Duolingo score is short

Graduate applicants with scores slightly below OU's minimums may be admitted conditionally through the Graduate English Pathway (GEP), studying up to two semesters at the Center for English as a Second Language while taking up to six credit hours of programme coursework. The page does not give DET entry scores for GEP. Undergraduates can also meet the requirement by completing the CESL programme.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your OU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
