Test rules and how to send your score

All language tests must be completed less than two years before the beginning of the term on your application. For undergraduate entry, PTE is listed among the other tests, and the page asks you to email your scores to the admissions office rather than having them sent electronically. Neither page mentions PTE Academic Online or PTE Core.

The undergraduate direct-entry IELTS level on the same page is 6.5 overall with 6.5 in writing, the counterpart to PTE 60 with 60 in writing. For graduate study IELTS is 6.5 with 6.5 in writing and no band below 6. The page also lists tests it will not take for undergraduate admission, including IELTS for UKVI and CELPIP.

If you fall short

The English Intensive Program (EIP) is a sequence of intensive ESL courses (ESL 0120 to ESL 0140), and the number you take depends on your score. If your PTE is in the conditional range, you can be admitted on condition of completing it. The page also says that if you retake a test for an updated offer, it must be the same test you submitted first.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your uOttawa programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
