USP PTE minimums by level
From the English language requirement for international applicants in USP's 2026 Handbook and Calendar (section 4.3.13), which applies to citizens of non-USP member countries.

Test rules and the IELTS comparison
The handbook says examination scores used to show English proficiency must have been attained within two years of the date of application. It does not mention PTE Academic Online, PTE Core or a Pearson institution code, so ask USP admissions how to send your score.
In the same table, PTE 42 sits beside IELTS 5.0 (5.0 in writing), PTE 50 beside IELTS 6.0 (6.0 in writing) and PTE 58 beside IELTS 6.5 (6.5 in writing).

If you fall short
The same table accepts schooling instead of a test: two years of English-medium secondary study for foundation, and three years for diploma and undergraduate entry, or at least one year of full-time English-medium undergraduate study. International applicants must also meet USP's academic equivalency guidelines.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your USP programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
