Test rules and how to send your score

The undergraduate page accepts PTE Academic and PTE Academic UKVI sittings. It does not mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core, and it does not print a validity period for PTE. U of T only accepts PTE scores sent electronically through your myPTE account; uploaded score reports are not mentioned as an option.

On the same page, IELTS Academic needs 6.5 with no band below 6.0, so PTE 65 with 60 in each part is the PTE route to the same undergraduate level. Every undergraduate applicant also needs a senior English course equivalent to Ontario ENG4U, whatever their test score.

If you fall short, and the graduate route

The SGS page lists TOEFL, IELTS (7.0 with 6.5 in each component), Cambridge, COPE, CAEL and the School of Continuing Studies Academic English Course, which needs a final grade of B in Level 60. It does not list PTE, so a graduate applicant with only a PTE score should ask the graduate unit in writing whether it will be considered.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your U of T programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
