Test rules and how to send your score

Virginia Tech only accepts results from a test taken within the past two years. Self-reported scores can be used for review, but admitted students who accept the offer must then provide official reports. To have a PTE score sent automatically, give CEEB code 5859 on the test form. The page does not mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core.

On the same page, IELTS needs 6.5 with no sub score below 6.5, which is stricter on sections than the single PTE overall of 59.

Deadlines and the graduate route

English test results must arrive by December 1 for Early Action and January 24 for Regular Decision, or March 15 for fall transfer and October 15 for spring transfer. Graduate applicants with only a PTE score should ask their department in writing before applying.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Virginia Tech programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
