Test rules at Warwick

The postgraduate page covers "PTE (Academic) and PTE Academic UKVI" and says PTE Academic Online is no longer accepted; tests should be taken in a PTE test centre. The undergraduate page notes PTE is acceptable when taken on or after 1 September 2024 for September 2026 entry only, says tests including IELTS and PTE must be taken within two years and one month of the course start, and that where you have taken more than one test only the most recent result counts.

For comparison, undergraduate Band A asks IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each component and postgraduate Band A asks IELTS 6.5 with none below 6.0, against PTE 60 and 62. Neither page gives a Pearson institution code.

If your PTE score falls short

Both pages point to Warwick's pre-sessional English courses. For postgraduate Band A, the page accepts IELTS 6.0 (5.5) for the 6-week course and 5.5 (5.0) for the 10-week course; it gives those entry levels in IELTS, so ask admissions for the PTE equivalent.

For a Student visa, gov.uk asks for English at CEFR B2 for study at degree level or above and B1 below degree level, and says a university can assess degree-level applicants' English itself and may ask for a different test (gov.uk).

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Warwick programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
