What Duolingo score do you need for Western Washington University?

Scores must be sent directly from the testing service you choose, and they must be sent by the priority application deadline. Photocopies of score reports cannot be accepted.

The page lists Western's institutional code (4947) for TOEFL, IELTS and SAT, but gives no code or separate instructions for Duolingo.

For comparison, the same page sets IELTS at 6.0 or higher.

Other routes on the page include TOEFL iBT (4.0 from 21 January 2026, 79 before), an SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 550, or a B (3.0) or higher in two college-level English composition courses at a US college. The requirement can be waived by exception when your secondary education was taught in English, with an official letter from the school.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Western Washington programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
