Larchfield Health Centre: Patient Guide to the Ground Floor
Skip to the questions ↓Our new building
Larchfield Health Centre moved to its new building on Station Road in September. All of the services that patients visit regularly are on the ground floor, which is described below. The first floor is used by staff for training and meetings and is not open to patients.
When you arrive
The main entrance is at the south-west corner of the building. Reception is immediately inside, and you should report there on arrival, or use the touch screen to check in if you already have an appointment. Next to Reception, on its eastern side, is the pharmacy, which can prepare prescriptions while you wait. Further along the south side are the Toilets, and beyond them is the records office, where patients can ask for copies of their medical records. The Staff Room is in the south-east corner.
Waiting to be seen
Directly north of Reception is the waiting area, a large open space with seating for sixty people and screens that display patients' names when the doctor or nurse is ready. Beside the waiting area, on its eastern side, is the Lift, which takes wheelchair users to the first floor. A Corridor runs east from the Lift to the far end of the building.
Treatment and consultations
The rooms along the north side of the building are where most appointments take place. The Treatment Room, in the north-west corner, is used by the practice nurses for injections, dressings and blood tests. Next to it, on its eastern side, is the physiotherapy suite, which has exercise equipment and two private cubicles. The four Consulting Rooms, where the doctors see their patients, take up the central part of the north side. In the north-east corner is the baby clinic, which holds drop-in sessions for parents every Wednesday afternoon.
Opening hours
The health centre is open from 8 am to 6.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Telephone lines for appointments open at 8 am, but routine appointments can also be booked online. If you need urgent medical help when the centre is closed, please call the out-of-hours service.
