1

Are baby showers popular in your country?

Yes, they've become really trendy over the last few years. Traditionally, people in my country waited until after a child was born to celebrate, but nowadays lots of expectant parents host an afternoon tea or a garden party before the birth.

2

Have you ever attended a baby shower?

I have, actually. My cousin organised one a couple of months ago at a local café. We played silly guessing games about the baby's arrival date and brought useful gifts like baby grows and nursery decorations. It was lovely.

3

What kind of gifts do people usually bring to a baby shower?

Most guests tend to go for practical items. Things like nappies, soft blankets, or feeding bottles are always popular because new parents need so much gear. Sometimes close friends chip in together to buy a bigger present, such as a pram.

4

Do you prefer traditional celebrations or modern parties for a new baby?

I think I lean towards modern ones like baby showers. They give the parents-to-be a chance to unwind and catch up with friends before life gets hectic. Having said that, family-centred post-birth rituals also have a special charm.

5

Do you think baby showers will become more common in the future?

Definitely. Thanks to social media, people love sharing these milestone moments and setting up themed decorations. I reckon younger generations will keep embracing the trend, especially as an excuse to bring family and friends together for a fun day.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
