Sample answers

1

Are there many bridges in your hometown?

Yes, quite a few because a wide river cuts right through the city centre. There are several stone bridges and a modern suspension bridge that connects my neighbourhood to the main shopping district.

2

How often do you cross a bridge?

Almost every day, actually. My flat is on one side of the river and my workplace is on the other, so I cycle over an old footbridge during my morning commute. It is quite scenic.

3

Do you prefer modern bridges or older ones?

I'd say I have a soft spot for older, historic bridges. They usually have far more character, like intricate stonework and arches, whereas modern concrete flyovers can look a bit bland and purely functional.

4

Did you like seeing bridges when you were a child?

Definitely. Whenever my parents took me on holiday, I was fascinated by watching large boats pass underneath them. I remember leaning over the railings just to see the water churning below, which felt really thrilling.

5

Would you like to visit any famous bridges in the future?

I really would. I've always wanted to see those ancient rope bridges in the mountains of Peru. It must be quite an adrenaline rush to walk across a deep canyon on something made entirely of woven grass.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
