1

Do people often live in bungalows in your country?

Not really, to be honest. Most people in my hometown live in high-rise flats or two-storey terraced houses because land is quite scarce. You only tend to see bungalows in quiet coastal towns or rural villages, like where my grandparents live in the countryside.

2

Have you ever lived in a bungalow?

No, I haven't lived in one permanently, but our family rented a detached bungalow during a summer holiday by the seaside a few years ago. It felt wonderfully spacious because everything was on a single level, and the living room opened directly onto a lovely back garden.

3

What do you think are the advantages of living in a single-storey house?

I'd say the biggest plus is the accessibility. Not having to climb up and down stairs every day saves a lot of energy and reduces the risk of tripping. Also, they're generally much easier to maintain, especially when it comes to cleaning windows or clearing out gutters.

4

Why do you think bungalows are particularly popular with older people?

Well, mainly because mobility issues often become a problem as people get older. A step-free layout makes moving around much safer and prevents falls. My great-aunt actually downsized to a small bungalow a few years back specifically so she wouldn't have to deal with a steep staircase.

5

Would you like to live in a bungalow in the future?

I wouldn't mind it at all, especially when I retire. Right now, I prefer city living, but later on in life, a peaceful, open-plan bungalow with a large plot of land where I could do some gardening would be ideal. It just seems like a very relaxing lifestyle.
