1

Do you like camping?

To be honest, I really enjoy it. It's a brilliant way to switch off from technology and get some fresh air. Last summer, I spent a couple of nights in the Lake District, and sitting around a campfire in the evening was just so relaxing.

2

Did you go camping when you were a child?

Yes, quite a lot, actually. My parents used to pack our old estate car and take my brother and me to coastal campsites during the summer holidays. We'd sleep in a rather leaky canvas tent, but I remember loving every minute of it.

3

What kind of places do you prefer to camp in?

I definitely lean towards remote spots in the countryside, like woodland areas or near a river, rather than crowded holiday parks. I prefer absolute peace and quiet, where you can wake up to birdsong instead of the sound of cars or noisy neighbours.

4

What equipment is most important when camping?

I'd say a decent, waterproof sleeping bag is essential, along with a reliable tent. If you get soaked or freeze during the night, it completely ruins the whole experience. I always make sure I pack a sturdy torch and a portable stove as well.

5

Would you prefer to camp alone or with other people?

I'd much rather go with a small group of close friends or family. For me, camping is quite a sociable activity, whether you're pitching tents together or sharing a meal under the stars. Going entirely by myself would feel a bit lonely and slightly eerie.

6

Do you think you will go camping in the near future?

I hope so, yes. A friend of mine has suggested a weekend trip to the Scottish Highlands next spring. We're hoping to do a bit of hillwalking and wild camping, provided the weather stays fairly mild and dry, of course.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
