1

Do you often use candles in your home?

Yes, quite a lot, actually. I tend to light a scented one in the living room in the evenings to help me unwind after work. Just yesterday evening, I lit a lavender candle while reading on the sofa, and it instantly made the whole flat feel much cosier.

2

What kind of candles do you prefer?

I'm definitely drawn to soy wax candles with subtle, earthy fragrances rather than really sweet or overpowering ones. A few weeks ago, I picked up one with sandalwood and cedar notes from a weekend market, and it gives off a lovely, gentle aroma without being overwhelming.

3

Have you ever bought a candle as a gift for someone?

Yes, I have. I reckon they make great housewarming presents because they're both decorative and practical. Last month, I bought a beautifully packaged citrus-scented candle in a ceramic jar for a colleague who had just moved into a new flat, and she was genuinely delighted with it.

4

Did your family use candles much when you were a child?

Not really, to be honest. We mainly kept plain white ones in a kitchen drawer just in case there was a power cut during a bad storm. The only other time we lit them was on birthday cakes, so having fancy scented candles around wasn't really a thing back then.

5

Why do you think some people like having candles around their home?

I think it's mostly about creating a relaxing ambiance. The soft, warm glow creates a soothing atmosphere that harsh electric lights just can't replicate. My sister, for instance, always lights a couple on her dining table during dinner parties to make the room feel more intimate and welcoming.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
