1

Do you have carpets in your home?

Yes, we've got a fitted carpet in the bedrooms and on the stairs, but the rest of the flat has laminate flooring. I think it makes the sleeping areas feel a bit cosier, especially when you step out of bed on a chilly winter morning.

2

What kind of flooring do you prefer, carpet or wooden floors?

I'd definitely go for wooden floorboards. They just look much more modern and stylish to me. Plus, if you spill a cup of tea or drop some food, it's really straightforward to mop up, whereas carpet tends to absorb stains and hold onto dirt.

3

Did your family have carpets in your home when you were growing up?

We did, actually. My parents had thick, wall-to-wall carpets throughout the entire house, even in the dining room. I remember spending hours playing board games on the living room rug because it was so soft and warm underfoot.

4

Do you think carpets are difficult to keep clean?

Oh, absolutely. They’re real dust traps, to be honest. You have to vacuum them constantly, and if someone accidentally walks in with muddy shoes, it’s a nightmare to get out. You practically need heavy-duty cleaning products to keep them looking fresh.

5

Would you like to have carpets in your future home?

Probably not throughout the whole place, no. I'd much rather have polished hardwood floors with a few colourful rugs scattered around. That way, you get the comfort and warmth of a carpet without all the hassle of deep cleaning it every few months.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
