1

What does the ceiling in your home look like?

In my flat, it is pretty plain, actually. It is just painted standard brilliant white with a simple pendant light hanging in the middle. There is a bit of plaster moulding around the edges, known as coving, which gives the living room a slightly traditional feel, but nothing too fancy.

2

Do you often look up at the ceiling?

Not deliberately, to be honest, unless I am lying in bed trying to drift off to sleep. Occasionally, if I am daydreaming or stuck on a tricky work problem, I might catch myself staring blankly at the ceiling while lost in thought, but that is about it.

3

Do you prefer high or low ceilings in a room?

Definitely high ceilings. They make a room feel so much more spacious and airy, even if the floor space is quite compact. Low ceilings can feel a bit claustrophobic, whereas tall rooms have a lovely sense of grandeur and let in plenty of natural light.

4

Did you have any decorations on your bedroom ceiling as a child?

Yes, I did! I used to have those glow-in-the-dark plastic stars stuck all over my bedroom ceiling. My dad and I arranged them into constellations, and it was brilliant turning off the bedside lamp at night to watch them shine in the dark.

5

Would you ever paint your ceiling a bright colour?

I do not think I would, really. While it looks striking in design magazines, bold colours on a ceiling tend to make the space feel much smaller and slightly oppressive. I would rather stick to neutral tones like off-white or pale cream to keep things bright.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
