Handwriting: questions and Band 8 answers
The examiner asks three to five short questions on two or three everyday topics in the first four to five minutes. Do you often write things?
Actually, I find myself writing quite frequently throughout the day. While most of my professional correspondence is digital, I constantly jot down quick reminders or to-do lists in a physical notebook to help keep my thoughts organised and prevent me from feeling overwhelmed.
What do you usually write?
My writing is primarily focused on academic notes and personal reflections. I prefer using a fountain pen for my daily journal entries because it encourages me to slow down and process my emotions more thoroughly than simply typing on a keyboard.
Do you like writing to people?
I absolutely love sending handwritten letters to close friends and family. There is something incredibly sentimental about receiving a physical note in the post, and I believe it shows much more thoughtfulness than a generic text message or email ever could.
Do you think computers might one day replace handwriting?
It is certainly a possibility, as technology is becoming increasingly integrated into our educational systems. However, I suspect handwriting will remain relevant for creative tasks and personal expression, as the tactile experience of pen on paper offers a unique cognitive benefit that digital screens cannot replicate.
