1

Have you ever been to an opera?

No, I haven't, actually. Tickets tend to be quite pricey, and it's not something my friends or family usually go to. The closest I've ever come was watching a clip of an open-air performance on television a couple of years ago, which looked quite dramatic.

2

Do you like listening to opera music?

To be honest, it's not really my cup of tea. I can appreciate the incredible vocal power and technique involved, but I usually prefer more modern genres like indie rock or jazz when I'm relaxing at home after work.

3

Do many people listen to opera in your country?

I wouldn't say it's mainstream at all. It's definitely more of a niche interest, mostly enjoyed by older generations or serious theatre-goers. Most young people nowadays lean towards pop, hip-hop, or electronic music instead.

4

Did you learn about opera when you were at school?

Not really, no. Our music lessons were fairly basic, so we mostly focused on learning the recorder or singing traditional folk songs. Classical music was mentioned briefly, but we never properly studied opera or went on any theatre trips.

5

Would you like to watch an opera performance in the future?

Yes, I think I would, just for the experience. I'd love to dress up and visit a historic opera house in a city like Vienna or Milan. Even if the music isn't my favourite, the grand atmosphere would be unforgettable.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
