1

Do you know how to make origami?

Yes, a little bit. I can fold a few basic things like paper boats and simple flapping birds. I'm definitely not an expert, but I find it quite therapeutic to sit down with a square sheet of coloured paper and create something from scratch.

2

Did you learn paper folding when you were a child?

I did, actually. We used to have craft sessions at primary school on Friday afternoons. Our teacher taught us how to make paper fortune tellers and jumping frogs, which we'd race across the classroom desks. It was brilliant fun.

3

What kinds of things can you make with paper?

Aside from standard origami shapes like cranes or flowers, I occasionally make decorative gift boxes or bookmarks. If I'm bored during a train journey, I sometimes fiddle with a receipt and fold it into a miniature aeroplane.

4

Do you think origami is popular among people in your country?

Not particularly, to be honest. Most people see it as just a rainy-day activity for young children rather than a serious hobby. Having said that, there are some niche craft clubs and online communities where adults create really intricate paper sculptures.

5

Would you like to learn more advanced origami in the future?

I'd love to, if I had the spare time. I've watched tutorials on a video-sharing app where people fold complex geometric patterns and realistic animals. It requires immense patience and precision, which is something I'd quite like to master one day.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
