1

Do you usually use a pen or a pencil?

I almost always reach for a pen, to be honest. I find writing in ink looks much neater and more professional, especially when taking notes during lectures. I only really use a pencil if I'm sketching out a rough plan or doing something I might need to rub out later.

2

What kind of pens do you prefer to write with?

I'm quite particular about this, actually. I prefer gel pens with fine nibs because they glide smoothly across the paper without smudging. Ballpoints can feel a bit scratchy sometimes, so I keep a stash of black gel pens in my desk drawer at home.

3

How do you feel when someone borrows your pen and does not return it?

It is a bit annoying, I have to admit, particularly if it's one of my favourite ones. People often just pocket them absent-mindedly after signing something. I've learnt my lesson now, though, so I usually hand over a cheap spare if a colleague asks for one.

4

Did you ever receive a pen as a gift?

Yes, I did. When I graduated from secondary school, my grandfather gave me a lovely metal fountain pen engraved with my initials. It felt very grown-up at the time, and although I don't use it every day, I still keep it safely in its original presentation box.

5

Do you think you will use pens less often in the future?

I suppose so, simply because everything is shifting towards digital screens and touchpads. Even now, I type most of my work on a laptop. Still, I doubt I'll abandon handwriting completely, as jotting down a quick to-do list on paper just feels more satisfying.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
