1

Do you often eat food with sauce?

Yes, pretty much every day, actually. I find that plain meals can taste a bit bland, so I usually drizzle something savoury over my rice or pasta. Just last night, I had grilled chicken and poured a dollop of garlic mayonnaise on the side to give it an extra kick.

2

What is your favourite type of sauce?

I'd say I'm really fond of rich tomato-based sauces, especially when they're simmered with fresh herbs like basil and oregano. Whenever I cook spaghetti at the weekend, I make a thick sauce from scratch because it coats the pasta perfectly and tastes so comforting.

3

Did you like spicy sauces when you were a child?

Not at all, to be honest. My palate was quite sensitive back then, so even a tiny drop of chilli sauce would make my mouth burn. I used to stick strictly to mild tomato ketchup with my chips whenever my parents took us out for dinner.

4

Do you prefer making your own sauces or buying ready-made ones?

It really depends on how much time I have. On busy weekdays, I usually grab a jar of ready-made pesto from the local supermarket to save hassle. However, if I'm hosting friends on a Sunday, I prefer whipping up a fresh dressing or gravy myself.

5

Are there any traditional sauces from your country?

Definitely. In the UK, mint sauce is a classic accompaniment, especially paired with roast lamb for Sunday lunch. It has a tangy, vinegary flavour that cuts through the richness of the meat, and my grandmother always insists on serving a fresh batch whenever we visit.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
