1

Are there many trams in your city?

Not where I live at the moment, no. We rely mostly on local buses and the underground network. However, when I visit my grandparents up in Manchester, they have a really modern light rail system that runs right through the city centre.

2

Do you often travel by tram?

Not on a daily basis, to be honest, simply because my current neighbourhood isn't connected to the network. But whenever I'm spending a weekend in a city that has them, I always hop on one to get around because it's so convenient.

3

What do you like most about taking the tram?

I think it's the smooth ride and the views. Unlike the tube, where you're stuck in dark tunnels, sitting by the window on a tram lets you watch the street life glide past. It's just a much more pleasant way to commute.

4

Did you ever ride on a tram when you were younger?

Yes, actually. I remember going on a family holiday to a seaside town when I was about eight, and we rode on a vintage heritage tram along the promenade. I was completely fascinated by the bell ringing and the wooden seats.

5

Do you think more cities should introduce tram networks?

Definitely, yes. They're electric, so they cut down on air pollution significantly compared to diesel buses. Plus, because they run on dedicated tracks, they don't tend to get caught in traffic jams, which saves a lot of time during rush hour.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
