1

Do you use Wi-Fi very often?

Pretty much all the time, really. I rely on it for my university coursework and streaming podcasts in the evening. As soon as I wake up, my mobile phone automatically hooks up to our broadband router, so I’m rarely ever disconnected when I'm at home.

2

Where do you usually connect to Wi-Fi outside your home?

Usually in coffee shops or the local library. I find it much easier to concentrate in quiet public spaces. Whenever I pop into a café nearby, the first thing I do is ask for the network password so I can get on with some reading.

3

How would you feel if you had no Wi-Fi access for a day?

To be honest, I’d probably find it a bit unsettling at first because I'm so used to instant messaging. But once the initial panic passed, I reckon it'd be quite refreshing to unplug and read a paperback book instead of staring at a screen.

4

Do you prefer using public Wi-Fi or mobile data?

I definitely lean towards mobile data when I'm out and about. Public networks can be notoriously patchy, and I always worry about security risks when logging into bank accounts or personal emails on open connections, so data just feels much safer.

5

Has the availability of Wi-Fi changed much where you live?

Absolutely, it's expanded dramatically over the past few years. It used to be quite a rarity to find free internet on buses or in shopping centres, whereas nowadays you can get online virtually anywhere in my town without much hassle at all.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
