1

Do you like windy weather?

Not particularly, to be honest. While a light breeze can be lovely during the summer, strong gusts just make walking around quite frustrating. I wear glasses, and whenever it gets blustery outside, my hair blows everywhere and they get completely smeared if there is any drizzle.

2

Is it often windy where you live?

Yes, fairly often. I live in a coastal town in the north of England, so we tend to get battered by strong sea gales, especially throughout autumn and winter. You really have to brace yourself just opening the front door on some mornings.

3

Did you ever fly a kite when you were a child?

I did, actually. My grandad bought me a bright red diamond-shaped kite when I was about seven. We used to head down to the local park on breezy weekends, although I remember spending more time untangling the string from tree branches than actually keeping it in the air.

4

What do you usually do when it is very windy outside?

I generally prefer to stay indoors and keep cosy. If there is a gale howling outside, I usually make a hot cup of tea, stick on a good film, and avoid going anywhere unless I really have to. It is much nicer watching it from behind a double-glazed window.

5

Do you prefer a gentle breeze or a strong wind?

Definitely a gentle breeze. It is refreshing, especially when the weather is warm and muggy, without causing any real disruption. Strong wind, on the other hand, knocks over garden furniture, messes up your clothes, and can even delay public transport, which is always a nightmare.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
