PTE in Madagascar — the fee, the Antananarivo test centre and the scores your route needs

Pearson's price finder lists one test centre in Madagascar: the Madagascar Professional Training Centre (MPTC) in Antananarivo (checked 11 October 2026).

Australia's thresholds are per skill for tests from 7 August 2025: Competent 47 listening, 48 reading, 51 writing, 54 speaking; Proficient 58 / 59 / 69 / 76 for 10 points; Superior 69 / 70 / 85 / 88 for 20. Canada does not accept PTE Academic for Express Entry: PTE Core CLB 7 is listening 60, reading 60, writing 69, speaking 68. UK visas need 59 in each skill for B2. The United States sets no IELTS or PTE score for the student visa: each university sets its own, and some do not accept PTE at all.

French speakers have a second route into Express Entry: IRCC also accepts two French tests, TEF Canada and TCF Canada, measured on the NCLC scale, and the English and French results must each be less than two years old.

Each university sets its own English score, and some do not take PTE at all. Universities we checked on their official pages:

McGill accepts IELTS (including IELTS for UKVI) only when sent electronically by the test centre, and does not accept One Skill Retake. McGill does not accept PTE, IELTS Online or One Skill Retake for graduate admission. UCT's results must be no more than two years old. Melbourne gives every course an English level on its course page; Level 1 is the lowest in its table.

Both are tested only in Antananarivo. PTE costs USD 260 and IELTS €328 (€350 for UKVI). Both work for UK and Australian visas; for Canada's Express Entry, take PTE Core or IELTS General Training, or a French test. For study, check the university first: McGill takes PTE for undergraduate entry but not for graduate programmes, and UCT asks PTE 67 for the same entry that is IELTS 6.5.
