PTE rules at ARU

For undergraduate and postgraduate courses ARU names IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT and PTE Academic taken at a test centre as its preferred tests. Most English tests are valid for two years, and for Student visa applicants the test must still be valid on the date you submit your visa application. ARU may run extra English checks at the CAS stage.

Against IELTS, the same page sets 6.0 with 5.5 in each skill for undergraduate and 6.5 with 5.5 for postgraduate study, the levels that line up with PTE 60 and 61 here. For a Student visa you need at least CEFR B2 in each skill.

If your PTE score falls short

To come on a Student visa for a pre-sessional English course or a course below degree level, ARU says you must take a Secure English Language Test and reach at least CEFR B1 in each skill; Pearson is listed as a SELT provider inside and outside the UK. ARU also runs its own English Language Proficiency Test for applicants already in the UK.

For the Student visa itself, gov.uk asks for English equivalent to CEFR B2 at degree level or above and B1 below degree level, and says a university can assess degree-level applicants' English itself. Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your ARU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
