Aston's India page lists the Standard 12th grades below. For master's applicants it also accepts a medium of instruction (MOI) letter: alone from a Tier 1 university, subject to in-sessional English, or from Tier 2 and 3 universities with 65% in CBSE/ICSE or 70% in a State Board 12th English. The main requirements page states the MOI letter must be wet stamped and dated within three years of your course start.
Aston's Nepal page lists NEB grades but also says students with a NEB Standard 12th cannot get a waiver, so confirm with Aston. It accepts a direct MOI from Kathmandu, Tribhuvan and Pokhara universities. Its Pakistan page says Pakistani qualifications need proof of English and lists ten universities, including LUMS, NUST and Quaid-i-Azam, accepted for an MOI waiver. Its Nigeria page accepts WASSCE English at C6 for undergraduate and master's entry, and C4 for the MBChB.

Accepted tests, pre-sessional and the Student visa
Aston accepts IELTS Academic, IELTS Academic Online and IELTS One Skill Retake, PTE, Duolingo, TOEFL iBT but not the Home Edition, Oxford ELLT Global and Digital, and others. It says it does not accept online versions of these tests unless specified, and multi-part tests must be taken in one sitting. Tests must be taken within two years of your course start date.
For direct entry with an unconditional offer you can take any IELTS Academic test. A CAS for a standalone pre-sessional course or a foundation year needs IELTS from a UKVI-approved centre. Aston provides pre-sessional English programmes, but its link to dates and costs redirected to the requirements page on 4 October 2026, so course lengths are not stated on the pages read.
For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Aston programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
