Test rules and the IELTS comparison
The undergraduate page gives no PTE validity period, sending method or rule on PTE Academic Online or PTE Core. The graduate page asks for TOEFL and IELTS scores to be sent directly to Augusta University with institution code 5406.
Undergraduates need IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 4.0 (79 before 2026) alongside PTE 58. Graduate applicants need TOEFL iBT 79 (4.5 after January 2026) or IELTS 6.5.

Undergraduates can also use SAT EBRW 480, ACT English 17, Michigan English Test 59, Cambridge English Scale 177, IGCSE or O Level English at D or better, UK GCSE or A-Level English at C or better, completion of an approved University System of Georgia (USG) campus-based ESL programme, a degree from a country where English is official, or the equivalent of English 1101 or 1102. Graduate applicants can use a US degree, an English-taught degree with official confirmation, a USG ESL programme, or citizenship of a listed country.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Augusta programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
