What PTE score do you need for Birmingham City University?

BCU accepts PTE Academic for direct entry and for its online pre-sessional, but PTE Academic Online is not accepted. For an on-campus pre-sessional, only the SELT UKVI version of PTE counts. Test results are valid for two years from the exam date.

The page says all accepted qualifications are checked by BCU's International Centre for English and mapped to CEFR B2 in each component. Against IELTS, BCU's standard requirement is 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5.

The same table lists lower PTE scores for pre-sessional entry: 43 (43) for IELTS 4.0, 47 (43) for 4.5, 51 (43) for 5.0 and 59 (43) for 5.5 with 5.0 in each band. Remember that the on-campus pre-sessional needs the UKVI version of the test.

For the Student visa itself, gov.uk asks for English equivalent to CEFR B2 at degree level or above and B1 below degree level, and says a university can assess degree-level applicants' English itself. Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your BCU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
