What PTE score do you need for Aston University?

Aston lists 'Pearson Academic (PTE)' among accepted tests and says it does not accept online versions of any listed test unless specified; no online PTE is specified. Tests with several components must be taken in the same sitting, and tests must be within two years of the start date of your course. The undergraduate table applies to entry into years 1 and 2.

Against IELTS, the same page puts undergraduate Engineering and Physical Sciences at IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each skill, the level that maps to PTE 64 with 59. The page also says BSc Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Biology and Psychology accept PTE with one skill at 42 and the others at 50 and above.

Aston offers pre-sessional English language programmes for applicants below its minimum. The page says that if you need a CAS for a pre-sessional course alone, or hold an unconditional Foundation year offer, your IELTS must come from a UKVI-approved centre. It gives no PTE rule for that route, so ask Aston which PTE version it needs.

For the Student visa itself, gov.uk asks for English equivalent to CEFR B2 at degree level or above and B1 below degree level, and says a university can assess degree-level applicants' English itself. Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Aston programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
