University English requirements

What IELTS score do you need for the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM)?

The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) asks applicants to its naturopathic program for IELTS Academic 6.5 overall or TOEFL iBT 86, at both the Toronto campus and the Boucher campus in New Westminster, BC. Academic entry

Applicants need a three- or four-year bachelor's degree in any discipline from an accredited institution and a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a four-point scale. The Boucher campus expects a science GPA of at least 2.5 to compete for seats.

Required courses, each passed with at least 60 per cent: general biology (3 credit hours), human life sciences (at least 6), general chemistry (3), psychology (3) and social sciences or humanities with an essay-writing component (6). They must be finished by 31 August for September entry or 31 December for January entry.

Degree route and how to check

Because every applicant already holds a bachelor's degree, the English-medium degree route is the usual way through; the page names no country restriction. PTE and Duolingo are not listed.

Requirements vary by program and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your CCNM program page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test. Admission scores are separate from immigration rules: see IELTS for a Canada study permit and IELTS for the Canada PGWP.

Minimum vs competitive score

Where the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.

Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.

If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
